Rex’s position as quoted in the article:

“If you’ve got a vibrant preschool-to-higher-ed continuum in your county, that’s a place where businesses want to come and where businesses want to expand,” he said. “So to me, supporting this program is just a no-brainer, and that’s why it’s gotten such broad-based support from everybody, except for people like my opponent, who opposed it in 2020 and has indicated that he continues to oppose it.

Rex Scott

The article continues:

Scott’s challenger, Republican Steve Spain, did not respond to the Sentinel’s questions about his position on the PEEPS program, although he has been critical of county spending in general in his public statements during his campaign.

Steve Spain was the only candidate who did not respond to the Sentinel’s request for comment.
